The program

Trauma Teddy™ originated in 1990 and since has grown to become a nationally recognised icon. Across Australia thousands of trauma teddies are proudly made by teams of volunteer knitters and given out to a diverse range of services and individuals to help reduce the suffering of people – mostly children – affected by fire, floods or other disasters as well as those experiencing illness and social disadvantage.

The opportunity

This is a fun and exciting Team Leader role that offers an opportunity to enhance your own experience. It is  best suited to someone with good communication and organisational skills. You will liaise with dedicated individuals and groups within the Trauma Teddy knitting community of the Central Coast and have the opportunity to connect with a diverse range of community organisations and groups across the coast.

As Trauma Teddy Coordinator volunteer, you will contribute to a more resilient community and gain a sense of purpose and connection within your community. Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World’s largest humanitarian network

  3. Complete some checks If you are successful in getting the role we’ll ask you to complete a Police Check. In some cases a Working With Children Check may also be required.
  4. Get started! At this stage, it’s time for your induction and training as you’re now an official Red Cross Volunteer.
