The program

Red Cross supports vulnerable migrants in finding employment through our Pathways to Employment program. This program includes English language support for clients with low levels of English and the provision of a space where they can drop in to receive support in applying for jobs and developing their resume and cover letter.

The opportunity

As an Employment Hub Bilingual Support Volunteer - Kilburn, you will support clients from a culturally and linguistically diverse background, including those who have low English, to overcome the barriers they are facing obtaining employment through facilitating an employment hub.

This role will support clients to develop a resume, cover letter and apply for jobs online providing opportunities for clients who have been made vulnerable as a result of migration. This role will suit someone who is familiar with the process of writing resumes and cover letters (in the Australian context) and has previously worked with clients with low English levels. Knowledge of industries common among migrants and an ability to speak a relevant second language will be viewed favorably.

The impact

As a volunteer in the program you will be making a big impact on the lives of those who have been made vulnerable as a result of migration.  You will be supporting their transformation from destitution to a life of independence and fulfilment.
