The program
Our Migration Support Programs provide help and support to refugees, asylum seekers, immigration detainees and other people who are vulnerable as a result of migration.

We do this through a range of migration programs services and programs that protect and uphold the health, dignity and wellbeing of vulnerable migrants. We also provide services to reconnect family members whose loss of contact is caused by international or internal conflict, war and disaster.

The position of an MSP Volunteer provides quality customer service and administrative support in support of the operation of the Migration Support Programs at the Dandenong office. The position will also assist with the donations of food provided on Tuesdays at the office. Specific responsibilities will be adapted from those below depending on the day-to-day needs of the office and as directed by the Volunteer Coordinator.

The opportunity
Utilize your administration and customer service skills and connect with a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. You will support with general administration needs such as filing, photocopying, data entry and maintaining client records. In addition, you will assist with responding to enquiries, providing information to guests, visitors and clients, and support with the the unloading, sorting, packing and supervising of the foodbank as clients access food throughout the week from our food pantry. 

Volunteers in this role will have strong communication skills, be reliable and demonstrate working flexibly and adhere to confidentiality and privacy in accordance with the Red Cross Privacy Policy.

The impact
As a Migration Support Programs volunteer, you’ll help improve the wellbeing of people suffering vulnerability as a result of migration. Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World’s largest humanitarian network.
