The program

Red Cross aims to strengthen people’s capacity to participate in community life, maintain or regain independence and stay living in their own home for longer. Telephone Support provides daily calls to check on the well-being of people who live alone, are vulnerable, have a disability or are recovering from an illness. We believe that having good social connections are essential for all aspects of health.

For this role, you will be able to listen and communicate effectively with clients in a caring and courteous way regarding their health, well-being and interests. You will know how to recognise issues and concerns and provide clients with appropriate support and reassurance. You will be able to maintain accurate records of all calls using allocated call sheets, follow organisational procedures and maintain confidentiality at all times.

The impact

As a Telephone Support Caller Volunteer, you will help your clients to feel safe and connected to their community by listening and providing a friendly voice. We offer on the job training and support and ongoing training opportunities as required.
