The program
 
 
Red Cross provides phone calls to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who would benefit from a regular yarn. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander volunteers call people for a yarn once a week. They share stories and catch up.

The opportunity

You will need to be reliable, possess good conversation and listening skills and the ability to relate to older people with ease. 

The position is voluntary and part time and calls can made from the comfort of your home or office or from Aboriginal Housing Victoria office in North Fitzroy.

The role is 1-2 hours per week on a day and time that is convenient for you.

The impact

Help improve the quality of life and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who live alone or in a remote location, are living with disability or don’t get to speak to many other mob from their community. Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World’s largest humanitarian network.
