Victorian Youth Advisory Committee Member

The program

The VYAC is a subcommittee of the Victorian Advisory Board (VAB) -  the state leadership team. The VYAC provide youth perspectives in governance and strategic planning, contributing to impactful and meaningful youth engagement in humanitarian action.

The opportunity
Help strengthen the work of Australian Red Cross and the services provided to the community by sharing your youth perspective. You will engage with various stakeholders within and external to the organisation advocating for young people and building solid relationships. You will bring your initiative to help consider solutions to unique challenges and help manage projects.

The impact

Working as part of a team to encourage community to take humanitarian action, you will be contributing to the work of Australian Red Cross, helping to realise goals such as reconciliation for Australia's first nation, helping communities prepare for disaster and supporting vulnerable migrants in transition. Previous experience in a similar role is not required as training and support will be provided to successful candidates.

  2. Meet with us Have a chat with us about the volunteer role you have applied for and see whether it’s a good match for you and for us.
  3. Complete some checks If you are successful in getting the role we’ll ask you to complete a Police Check. In some cases a Working With Children Check may also be required.
  4. Get started! At this stage, it’s time for your induction and training as you’re now an official Red Cross Volunteer.
