The program
Our Migration Support Programs (MSP) provide help and support to refugees, people seeking asylum, immigration detainees, families separated by conflict, war and disaster, and other people who are vulnerable as a result of migration. We do this through a range of services and programs that protect and uphold the health, dignity and wellbeing of vulnerable migrants. Under the umbrella of MSP is our Emergency Relief (ER) program, in which we can offer one-off or short term assistance to asylum seekers or migrants who are in financial hardship and have no other income or supports.

The opportunity
In this role, you will be the first point of contact for MSP, both for current and potential clients and other stakeholders. The role would suit someone who has experience with general administration, answering emails, phone calls and supporting front counter enquiries. The Reception & Triage Volunteers will have a variety of other tasks to support specific programs within MSP, including assisting the Emergency Relief team with client triage through initial eligibility assessments and advising those who are ineligible of alternative support agencies.

It will require an ability to work flexibly, autonomously, with initiative and sound judgement. This opportunity requires a minimum commitment of six months. People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

The impact
As an MSP volunteer, you’ll help improve the wellbeing of people suffering vulnerability as a result of migration, supporting them to move towards financial independence. Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the world’s largest humanitarian network.
