The WA Emergency Services branch of the Australian Red Cross works to reduce the impact and consequences of emergencies to the WA community.
As a Communications & Media volunteer, This role will work closely with the Emergency Services team to plan and execute the media and communications strategy within the department.
You will provide extra capacity to the Emergency Services team by assisting with taking care of social media platforms, assisting in the creation and design of media content, assisting in implementing a 12 month calendar of media communications, including story writing for social media. Assisting in the scoping of new and innovative ways that can deliver communications in WA..
The successful candidate will have good communication skills both written and verbal, advanced skills and knowledge using various social media platforms, and preferably a background in marketing and/or communications. You must have the ability to time manage and meet deadlines. Experience in delivering and executing campaigns across all channels would be highly regarded, experience in writing copy for different channels would be desirable and experience with photography preferred. Most importantly we are looking for someone with a positive ‘can do’ attitude who enjoys good humour, is creative and inventive and not afraid to think ‘outside the box’ as well as working as part of a dynamic team. As a Communications & Marketing volunteer with the Emergency Services, you'll gain valuable experience in marketing specifically for the disaster and emergency services sector and be part of a friendly and vibrant team. Your assistance to the Emergency Services Team will have an impact on Red Cross volunteers, members, staff and the larger community that provide services to vulnerable people.
