People involved with the justice system can face a wide range of difficulties when released from prison. They need help in critical areas to support them as they re-enter the community. The Red Cross Keep in Touch Support program was created to support participants, over the age of 18, who are on court-ordered home detention or have completed home detention.
The Telephone Support Volunteers will contact the participants by phone to check on their well-being, social connection and actively listen to their needs and or concerns.
Volunteers will also monitor participant's progress post home detention and their current circumstances.
To volunteer in this role, you will be able to actively listen and communicate effectively with participants in a caring and courteous way regarding their progress post home detention. You will know how to recognise issues and concerns in relation to their wellbeing and respect their rights, privacy and dignity at all times. You will be able to maintain accurate records of all calls using the Red Cross database and follow organisational procedures.
As a Telephone Support volunteer, you will provide support to participants to assist with their positive wellbeing and social connection by listening and providing a friendly voice. We offer on the job training and support and ongoing training opportunities as required.
Please note: you will be required to upload a recent copy of your CV to submit this application
