The program

Many people in our community find it difficult to cook for themselves often due to mobility which can result in social isolation. Meals on Wheels provides a range of healthy and nutritious meals frozen and fresh meals delivered to their door.

As a Red Cross volunteer, you will be helping these people access to not only nutritious meals, but also a quick chat to brighten their day.

The opportunity

We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to be part of a team of Meals on Wheels volunteers. This is a great opportunity for anyone who would enjoy calling on a variety of people in their homes and making their life a little bit easier.

The Meals Support Delivery Driver Volunteer is an ongoing opportunity will require a commitment of at least one day per week, fortnightly or monthly. The volunteer will be going to deliver meals directly to our clients.

You will require a Working with Vulnerable Peoples Card, A police check, a current drivers licence and vehicle insurance.

The impact

As a Meals on Wheels Volunteer, you’ll help improve the quality of life and wellbeing of people who are elderly or have a disability by connecting them with services in their local community. Your support and assistance can make all the difference in the lives of these people who need it the most, and we are sure you will enjoy it too!

  2. Meet with us Have a chat with us about the volunteer role you have applied for and see whether it’s a good match for you and for us.
  3. Complete some checks If you are successful in getting the role we’ll ask you to complete a Police Check. In some cases a Working With Children Check may also be required.
  4. Get started! At this stage, it’s time for your induction and training as you’re now an official Red Cross Volunteer.
