The program

The Social Support program provides an opportunity for you to become a friend to someone within our community. By providing support, sharing interests, going out into the community and by just providing a friendly ear not only will you be enriching another person’s life, you will also be enriching your own.

One short visit a week can make a huge difference to well-being within our community.

The opportunity

Summer in Canberra provides so many possibilities for you and your participant to enjoy together. Outings could include shopping or the movies – great places to stay cool in the air conditioning. Picnics at the lake enjoying the view under the shade of a tree whilst sipping a cool drink and enjoying delicious summer salads.

Living in Canberra we sometimes forget about visiting our tourist attractions, most if not all are air conditioned. We are spoilt for choice in Canberra or you just might like to stay in, relax and have a chat over a refreshing beverage.

Occasionally there might be an appointment the participant needs to attend. Perhaps you might consider providing the transport for them.

The possibilities are endless.

This role is suitable for people who are a minimum age of 18 years old and applicants require a valid General Working With Vulnerable People card.
