SA Transport Driver Volunteer - Port Pirie

The program
The purpose of the Social Support program is to strengthen people’s capacity to participate in community life, maintain or regain independence and stay living in their own home for longer. Volunteers are required to pick up and transport clients using an electronic device. They will ensure clients receive a safe, courteous and respectful onboard experience and they will always be mindful of the clients health, wellbeing, cultural background and lived experience.

The opportunity
Australian Red Cross is looking for enthusiastic people who enjoy driving to join our Transport team as a driver in the Port Pirie & Mid North SA region. Volunteers must be over 18 with a good driving record, and be willing to undertake a basic driving operations check. A current First Aid certificate is desirable.

You will transport and support clients to attend medical appointments, allied health consultations and social engagements.

The impact
As a Transport volunteer, you’ll help improve the quality of life and wellbeing of people who are elderly or have a disability by connecting them with services in their local community. Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World’s largest humanitarian network.
