Jeays Street Community Centre provides a range of services to connect people with their wider community. The aim of Jeays Street Community Centre is to build social connectedness among the local community by providing a safe and open space where community members are able to access formal and informal community-based support, be involved in community-led initiatives and develop meaningful social networks. The Centre's programs encourage community connections and promote social supports by providing; community based recreational activities, education and training opportunities, community engagement and volunteer opportunities, information, support and referral services and a space for community gatherings.
Jeays Street Community Centre exists to build social connectedness among the local community by providing a safe and open space. The volunteer bus driver, driving a Red Cross 8 seater van, is responsible for transporting people from the Jeays Street community to nearby locations on a weekly basis. He/she will be expected to comply with Queensland Road Safety regulations and to ensure compliance with Red Cross policy concerning use of Red Cross vehicles. The volunteer bus driver is required to commit to at least 3.5 hours per week.
As a Van Driver Volunteer, you will be able to connect, learn, listen and teach community members, experiencing social isolation and vulnerability. Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World’s largest humanitarian network.
