Availability: Business hours, Evenings, Mornings, Weekends
Time involved: 1 - 4 hours per week

Would you like to support culturally diverse community members in the Coffs Harbour area who may be struggling to gain a driver’s licence?

  • Flexible hours/days between 1-4 hours weekly, ongoing
  • Vehicles and training provided
  • Driver's Licence required

The Program

The Learner Driver Mentor Program supports new drivers to become licensed by providing them access to a vehicle for on-road practice while a volunteer supervises them. This program is designed to assist learners who may not have ready access to a suitable supervising driver but would like to gain their licence for employment and/or social inclusion reasons.

The opportunity

Mentors are volunteers who help Learner Drivers complete their hours of “on-road” driving experience.

This role suits someone over the age of 18 who is an experienced, licenced driver and able to mentor a learner driver through a variety of road conditions in a supportive manner. Opportunities are also available for volunteers who are multi-lingual and/or bring administrative skills.

The impact

As a volunteer mentor you will be helping people to overcome barriers that disadvantage them by not having a driver’s licence. You will be creating access to employment, study opportunities, and their independence. Your participation will contribute to building stronger social networks and cross-cultural understanding in the Coffs Harbour area.

Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World’s largest humanitarian network.

For more information, please see the role description Download File Volunteer Role Description LDMP_Coffs Harbour.pdf or contact Judith Barker on 0450 747 923.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as well as culturally and linguistically diverse people are strongly encouraged to apply.
