The program 

Red Cross TeleYarn program works to reduce the impact of social isolation in the community. Friendly volunteers make phone calls to participants generally once a week for a yarn and social chat. Providing an opportunity to share stories, friendship and support.

The opportunity

Lead, motivate and support a team of TeleYarn volunteer callers. We are looking for someone with strong communication, organisational and computer skills to join us. If you have a genuine interest in connecting with people in the community over the telephone this will be the ideal role for you.

All volunteers are asked to complete a National Criminal Check.

Whatever your motivation, volunteering at Red Cross is valuable to us and rewarding for you.

The impact

Help improve the quality of life and wellbeing of people who live alone or in a remote location, are living with disability or don’t get to speak to many other mob from their community. Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World’s largest humanitarian network.

  2. Meet with us Have a chat with us about the volunteer role you have applied for and see whether it’s a good match for you and for us.
  3. Complete some checks If you are successful in getting the role we’ll ask you to complete a Police Check. In some cases a Working With Children Check may also be required.
  4. Get started! At this stage, it’s time for your induction and training as you’re now an official Red Cross Volunteer.
