Having good social connections are essential for all aspects of health, especially as we age. Red Cross supports older people, and other members of the community, who live alone or who have few social connections to help improve their wellbeing.

Red Cross social connection programs match those who are not in regular social contact with people with a caring and friendly volunteer. These programs include home visits, social outings, group activities, daily wellbeing telephone calls or longer weekly telephone chats.

This role suits someone over the age of 18 (or younger with parental consent), who is a good listener, communicator, has a genuine interest in working with mature aged, disadvantaged and socially isolated clients and can commit to two hours a fortnight.

The impact
As a Social Inclusion Volunteer, you’ll brighten the life of someone by offering them company and friendship. Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World’s largest humanitarian network.
