The Connections program supports adults who are in contact with or exiting the justice system and are experiencing social isolation. The program provides assistance with re-integration back into society. This may include assistance with finding and accessing local services, government departments and building living skills.
For this role you will meet weekly with the client and provide support and knowledge to assist them to re-integrant successfully into their community. You will do this by supporting them to link with services and organisations that they have identified as important to their social connection within their community. You will be non-judgmental and demonstrate compassion and patience with your interactions.
It would be great if you have knowledge and experience working with people of diverse backgrounds and an understanding of the rights and needs of vulnerable people who are in contact with the justice system in South Australia but this is not a requirement.
As a Connections mentor volunteer you will provide support to vulnerable adults whilst gaining experience with the world's largest humanitarian organisation. You will also have access to ongoing training opportunities and the chance to learn about and contribute to the community justice sector. Whatever your motivation, volunteering at Red Cross is valuable to us and rewarding for you.
