Community Visitor Volunteer - Southside Canberra, Cooma, Queanbyan

Time involved: 1 - 4 hours per week
A Community Visitor is matched with an elderly person living in an aged care facility or in their own home, who experiences social isolation and could benefit from your company. You will undertake face to face visits on a weekly basis to provide social interaction, companionship and friendship. To be considered for this role you must have a current Working With Vulnerable People card.
This role suits someone who is aged 18 years and over, is a good listener and can commit to a minimum of 1 hour a week for visits. Suggested activities you could do together include playing board games, cards, walks in the garden, sharing life stories and experiences over a cuppa. Outings may be possible.
As a Community Visitor you'll brighten the life of an older person who may be experiencing social isolation by offering them company and friendship. Red Cross will provide ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World’s largest humanitarian network.
