The Cairns Wellbeing Centre provides quality, affordable accommodation in an inclusive, healing, safe, and culturally appropriate environment for people from regional and remote areas accessing health services in Cairns.
The volunteer bus driver is responsible for transporting people around Cairns to various medical appointments, airport transfers and other relevant transport needs as required.
The suitable applicant will hold a current open driver's licence. The ability to communicate with a cross section of the community, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds is also a must.
The Cairns Wellbeing Centre - Pat Gosper Place is a distinctive accommodation centre providing a welcome home away from home for people from some of the most remote parts of Queensland who are receiving medical treatment in Cairns. Pat Gosper Place is designed to reflect the Red Cross wellbeing model, with its sense of openness, welcoming and homeliness, mirroring health and recovery.
People living in rural and remote locations do not have the same access to the range and quality of affordable health care in their communities compared to those in urban centres. Red Cross is supporting people in rural and remote locations to access health services in the city to help improve their quality of life.
Red Cross will ensure you have ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the world’s largest humanitarian network.
